Probably doing my PhD research. It was exhausting, mentally and physically, as I spent long hours in the lab and then years wrestling with interpreting the results.

Research is made of many small problems which for a time seems impossible. The hardest thing is sometimes to come up with a new way of looking at something and keep going when you are stuck.

The hardest thing was probably designing a star tracker (cameras that look at stars and automatically identify them). It is such a complicated thing to design and pulling all the different things together to make it work was really hard work. It was worth it though. When the first one went into space and worked first time It was an amazing feeling.
