I do find my job fun and exciting for sure! I sometimes ask myself if my job is helping other people enough, compared to medical doctors for example my work does not directly help anyone. But I think though not directly helping people, science helps society and humanity progress. Humans have a fundamental need for understanding and science is our best path to reach it. I am currently working for the National Physical Laboratory which is a great place to work, here we maintain the nations time scale which is service for the public and in this way helps people. Though I have a small part in it I am proud of that. We had an open day recently and I was happy to talk to our visitors and see how interested people are in science. At the end of the day people are generally curious and want to know things.

That’s right. Engineers help to make everything in the world that we use in our daily lives.

It is fun and exciting yes. The work I do helps to feed all the people on the planet, and it also helps to save peoples lives when there is a disaster like an earthquake. It makes me very proud doing what I do.
